BLACKHAWK BAPTIST CAMP

Dear Alumni and Friends of Blackhawk Baptist Camp,
It was great to be at Blackhawk Baptist Camp on Saturday, April 28 and greet old friends and new. As the former Area 1 Minister, I can testify that it was super to see the camp and that the ministry still continues. In my 3 months since I have returned, I’ve noticed the churches that seem to be healthy and flourishing are those that have historically been supportive of camping and sent children and youth to camp. I’ve noticed that many of those campers who attended Blackhawk are now productive flourishing Christians giving back to their communities and churches. I know Blackhawk campers who are now pastors, teachers, architects, biologists, bioengineers, psychologists, missionaries, social workers, and, there is even one President of a seminary. Christian camping changes the lives of young people. It helps them develop livelong healthy relationships with each other and God.
I am writing to appeal to you as an alumni or friend of Blackhawk to help get the 2018 camping year off to a great start. The camp is in need of funds for three areas: camper scholarships, operating budget, and deferred maintenance. Some of the repairs needed include: repair and graveling the main road into the camp ($3500); water line to the trailer ($3000); replacements of hot water heaters ($1000); Stripping and sealing Conrod floor ($800); mulch and landscaping for playground ($1000); Trailer HVAC ($2000); and replace the 25 year old John Deere Gator ($8,900).
Our goal is to raise $75,000 for these 3 areas and here is how we will do it. We need the following number of contributors:
1 person to donate a gift of $10,000
5 persons to donate a gift of $5,000
20 persons to donate a gift of $1,000
30 persons to donate a gift of $500
100 persons to donate a gift of $100
Of course the camp will accept any size gift, but I am asking you to prayerfully consider where you can contribute on the scale above. If we are able to achieve the above numbers we will have raised $75,000 for the ministry of Camp Blackhawk for 2018 which means we would have $25,000 for camp scholarships, $25,000 for operating budget and $25,000 for maintenance.
All checks should be made out to Blackhawk Baptist Camp and mailed to the Area 1 Treasurer, Barbara Rose at 40W735 Powers Rd, Huntley IL 60142. Please share this request with other alumni of Blackhawk Camp or people who have a passion to see children and youth learn about Jesus and His love.
Preparing workers for God’s Kingdom,
Rev Dr. Cheryl R. Henson
